July films

An overview of the films I watched in July!

Despicable Me 3 (2017)

As a die hard minions fan, I went to see the new despicable me film the day after it came out. My plan was to see the first showing at the Norwich ocean but I was working *sad face*. I went with my family when I was back in London. It is very similar to the other 2 films, Gru finds out that he has a twin and goes to meet him. Out of the five of us who went, me and my youngest brother (10 years old) found it hilarious, the twins (18 years ago) weren't fussed, and the only comment my dad had was 'that it was clever'.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

When you and your friends realise that your favourite harry potter film is the same, you obviously have to watch it. I've lost the number of times I have watched this film, and I could probably quote the whole film. Do you agree that this is the best Harry Potter film?

Dirty Dancing (1987)

Back in March, I heard that there was going to be an outdoor cinema in Norwich for a few days. The three films they were showing were ET, star wars and Dirty dancing, so obviously we decided to watch dirty dancing. I love this film so much but only watched it for the first time this year. Baby goes on holiday with her family where they all get dancing lessons. One evening she was walking and found another group of people dancing who, instead of doing ballroom dancing, they are doing 'dirty dancing'.  There are so many iconic parts of this film, including the Patric Swayze lift and #NobodyPutsBabyInTheCorner

Spider Man: Homecoming (2017)

This was such a great film. I ended up seeing it twice in the cinema, once with friends and once with my brother. I'm not a massive fan of superhero films, but I do enjoy them. From what I could tell, it was very similar to the 'Amazing Spiderman', but with a slightly different focus, less on how he became Spiderman and more about his everyday activities.

The Big Sick (2017)

This was July's Odeon screen unseen. The film was about a guy who was a comedian and Uber driver. He moved from Pakistan to American when he was a teenager. His parents were trying to arrange a marriage for him, but instead, he fell in love with an American girl who he met at one of his gigs. I love this film and definitely want to watch it again. Also, did anyone know that Amazon made films? Cause apparently this is an Amazon film! This film is now out in cinemas so you should watch it.

To The Bone (2017)

This was an interesting pick, and I wasn't sure what to expect from it. The blogs and articles I had read about it were very mixed, but I quite liked it. It was about a girl who had an eating disorder and had been in and out of clinics for a few years. It had quite a similar vibe to '13 reasons why', trying to be real and address a serious issue in society. I would definitely watch it again. (also, am I the only one who thought the baby feeding scene was weird?)

Minions (2015)

Very similar to the despicable me series, except it is about how the minions meet Gru. It is a good film but not as good as the despicable me films (but that is a hard thing to beat!)

The Amazing Spider Man (2012)

I saw this film years ago when it first came out in the cinema, but I don't think I had watched it since. After watching the new Spiderman film in the cinema, I decided to watch the amazing spiderman again to see how similar it was. I really love this film. Maybe I should start watching more superhero films.

Moana (2016)

Apparently, it is not acceptable to say that I haven't watched Moana, so this was easy corrected with the addition of cake. Oh my gosh, it was amazing, since then I have been listening to the soundtrack non-stop. I'm not even sure how to describe the film, but you have to watch it!!!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

I hadn't watched the 4th Harry Potter in years, but I could still remember pretty much all the words. Is this bad? This Harry Potter is where the Triwizard Tournament comes to Hogwarts. There are so many amazing parts of this film, but to be honest, you get the annoying teen angst from Harry Ron and Hermoine, which is hilarious.

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003)

In this film, Elle has now graduated from uni and is a lawyer. She decided to find her dogs mum, only to find out that she is being used for animal testing. She starts to petition against the animal testing companies, to get them to stop. It is very similar to the first film, funny and light hearted.

Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (2005)

This film was one of my favourite films when I was 14/15 but I hadn't watched it since. It is a film about 4 girls who have been best friends since they were born. They were about to spend their first summer apart and they went shopping where they found a pair of jeans which managed to fit each of them perfectly. They send the jeans to each other so they each have a turn wearing them, as this is a way for them to stay 'connected'.

Karate Kid (2010)

This was my first time watching the kirate kid (I know! I can't believe it as well), it was super good, but I'm not sure if I will watch it again without my brother. It is about a boy from America who comes to China with his mum and is bullied at school. In order to fight, he learns karate from the maintenance man who works on their building. I had to deal with my brother for the rest of the day trying to do karate on me, that was definitely a down side to the film.

PS, there won't be an 'August films' blog, as I lost track by the 2nd August! #summer
