Global Leadership Summit

Last weekend I was volunteering at the Global Leadership Summit in Great Yarmouth. GLS is a large conference for all kind of leaders, church or businesses to teach them how to become better leaders. It is a Christian event, set up by Willow Creek Church in America, but it's not just for Christians. The speakers are a mixture of Christians and non Christians, but there was a clear theme of God helping us to become better leaders, and there was worship two times each day. The main conference takes place in August in America and is streamed live to many different states.
In October, many different places around the world will have mini GLS conferences where they show the all talks from the conference over the summer. Norwich YFC and Kingsgate Community Church in Great Yarmouth held the Norfolk conference this year.
The conference was held over two days, Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October, both days with very early starts, leaving at 6:15 am! Whilst I was there I was helping with registration, meaning I was able to be in most of the sessions. There were around 100 people at the conference.
There were so many different speakers, who were all so inspirational. One sessions I particularly remember was an interview between Bill Hybels, the Senior pastor at Willow Creek, and Brian Houston, who set up Hillsong Churches. During the interview, Brian was talking about difficult parts of his life, but how he had faith to get through them and still set up and lead Hillsong church. I found it so inspirational because he relied on God during the hard times, but also because he was open about the difficulties he has had in his life in the hope that he can help others.
At the end of this session they talked about songs, especially worship songs, and how they can help you through difficult times. I could completely relate to this because for the last year or so I have had one song that I listen to when times get difficult. This song is Endless Ocean by Jonathan and Melissa Helser. This song is about God always being with us, singing over us, and how He will never leave our side. One song they talked about in the interview was Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin. I had heard this song a couple of times before at church, but at GLS I properly started listening to the lyrics, which repeat over and over again about God being a good father who loves us. I've been listening to that song constantly since GLS.
I found GLS so inspirational and I am so happy that I was able to go and help.

Prayer points:
For the non Christians who came to the event.
All the leaders who came. Pray that they will be able to grow in leadership and apply what they learnt.
The start of the planning for next year.
