Christmas :)
Over Christmas I had two weeks off to spend time with my friends and family back in London. It was so nice to be back and see people, and be really busy.
A couple of weeks before I went back to London, I was asked to talk at my church in London's carol service on the evening of the 20th. There were 4 of us who shared our testimony in between the carols, where I shared about how I came to be doing the gap year that I am doing now. Even though I was very nervous, I really enjoyed speaking. ( If you want to read a copy of what I said, either email me or comment below)
The next day it was my friends birthday so we went bowling. This is not something I do often, but I still came second!! It was lots of fun.
I used to go ice skating with youth groups at least once a year, and we would always go into central London, either Hyde park, Canary wharf or Somerset house. I really missed doing this, as I hadn't been ice skating in about four years, so I planned with a small group of friends to go ice skating in the winter wonderland at Hyde park. It was so much fun, and I didn't fall over once! I now want to get back into ice skating because it is so much fun, even though I'm not very good.
On Christmas Day we woke up quite early to open presents then go to Church. After church we went for a walk in Wanstead park, which has become a tradition ever since we told my youngest brother that we needed to go to the park to feed the ducks their Christmas dinner, ( People have asked questions about this, we didn't feed them Turkey!) Me and my dad then made Christmas dinner in the evening.
On Boxing Day, I went with two of my brothers and my dad to see spectre in Leicester Square. None of us had seen it yet, and very few cinemas were still showing it, so we decided to spend a whole day in London, starting in Five guys in Covent Garden for lunch, then looking around that area, before going to Leicester Square. It was such a good film!!!!
Every year around Christmas time, we go to Manchester to visit my dads family. We go for the day, with a 4.5 hour drive each direction (insane!) We went out for lunch with my aunt and Grandpa before visiting other relatives who live around Manchester.
I spent New Years in central London to watch the fireworks. My dad and brothers went last year but this was my first year going. We got into London at about 9 o'clock, and we were just opposite the London eye. We had such a great view of the fireworks and it was such a good evening. Due to all the terror threats happening in recent months, the security was greatly increased. We had our bags searched when entering, and everywhere we looked, there were armed police men, normally a rare thing to see. The last couple of years you have had to pay to get into the Westminster area to see the fireworks. It was £10 which I think was completely worth it, and I would defiantly go again.
I am now back in Norwich, and it's so good to be back :)
