As family we go tour
On Sunday the 8th, I had the great opportunity to go and see rend collective at the LCR, at UEA.
Rend Collective are a Northern Irish Christian folk worship band. I find the best way to describe them is a Christian version of the Mumford and Sons.
They are usually at Soul Survivor, so this wasn't the first time that I saw them live, but this was the first time I saw them outside the festival worship setting. This time I went with a group of friends, who all go to UEA, and it was great to see others I knew who went as well.
The support act for the evening was a band called Urban Rescue. Urban Eescue are an American Christian electro pop contemporary music group. They were such a cool band, and even though I hadn't heard of them before, I had heard a lot of their songs before. As soon as I got home I added loads of their songs to my Spotify playlist!
Rend Collective made the whole evening about worship, rather than a show. They are touring to help people connect with God and worship in a fun way, rather than for their own glory. I love the fact that they are so humble.
The whole message behind the evening was 'As family we go'. This meant the we were looking at going out into the community, as a group. All way through Rend Collective's worship, most of the band members took a break whilst one of them stayed to talk to us about this topic. I found this so inspirational.
As a worship band, Rend Collective generally don't take things seriously. During one of there's songs, they all put mascot head masks on of either pandas or unicorns to dance around in, whilst throwing flashing glow orbs into the audience. They have a unique view on worship, which is that God doesn't tell us to be serious in worship, and it's not a fruit of the spirit, so why is church so obsessed with serious worship? They therefore try and make their concerts as fun as possible, with us all dancing around and singing our hearts out.
I found this evening a great highlight and I can't wait for more experiences like this where I can come together with many other people all worship the Lord in a really fun way.
Prayer points:
The rest of the tour goes well
They they're able to reach out to many people, and be able to share the good news of Christ
