Ponyo

Last weekend I went to UEA for a free showing of Ponyo, a Studio Ghibli film. The English dub was made by Disney with many famous people as the characters voices (including Liam Neeson, Matt Damon and Noah Cyrus). With un underlying theme of caring for the environment, Ponyo is a film about a boy (Sosuke) who finds a fish (Ponyo) who wishes to become a human. The film shows Ponyo being able to grow arms and legs to become more humanlike.

As the film went on, I started to fall in love with the film, especially the relationship between Ponyo and Sosuke. They are so cute. Sosuke is five years old and Ponyo in human form is around the same age.
Whilst Ponyo is still in fish form she comes to love ham, which is increased as she becomes human. 'It's ham!!!' and 'Ponyo loves ham!!!' are just a couple a couple of the quotes that Ponyo shouts at points in the film.

Near the beginning of the film, I realised that Ponyo is my spirit animal! Ponyo is a fish-human hybrid who loves swimming, is in love in ham and loves running around in circles with a light on her head. At times when I don't have to act like an adult, this is what I do! (Especially evenings when I'm at uni. I'm writing this remembering yesterday when me and my friend started running around the lecture room chasing each other during a break, if only we had lights on our head...)

You definitely need to watch this film. It was probably made for children but I loved it as well (Maybe because I am a young kid a heart...) and it was a lovely light hearted film which will make you watch to shout at people to wake them up in the morning (as seen below). Maybe this film was just a bad influence and making me resort to 5 year old me... Either way, this is now one of my favourite films and I'm definitely going to buy the DVD and watch more Studio Ghibli films.
