October films Part one
Spy. 2015. 15. Netflix.
Spy is a film about a woman called Susan, who is a data analyst for the CIA. She volunteers to become a spy and take down a drug and arms business taking place all around the world.
Susan is played by Melissa McCarthy, and her friend/ assistant is played by Miranda Hart. I never would have thought about it without this film, but they are the perfect duo!!! Melissa I have watched for years in Gilmore girls, and Miranda the same in her sitcom 'Miranda' so this was amazing. However, could have been made better by the lack of gruesome stuff. I definitely wasn't expecting it!

Edge of 17. 2016. 15. Amazon Prime Video.
Edge of 17 is a film about a girl called Nadine, who is 17 and lives with her mum and brother. Life isn't going well for her, so the film navigates through her going through high school, as well as some more difficult things.
I spent most of the film trying to work out who played Nadine, and it's the new girl in pitch perfect 2. I enjoyed the film, and it was a nice relaxing film. However, there were a few more intense parts, which helped to stop the film being boring. I will probably watch it again.

Glass castle. 2017. 12. Cinema.
The glass castle is a real-life story about a woman called Jeannette, who grew up neglected in a dysfunctional family. The Glass Castle shows her growing up, and the impacts her parent's behaviour has on her and her siblings.
This is quite a hard film to watch as it is really intense, and depressing, but I still loved the film. A lot of tears were in the screen when watching this film. I would definitely watch it again, but not straight away.

Prince of Egypt. 1998. U. Netflix
Prince of Egypt is a film based on Exodus in the bible, which is the story of Moses. As Prince Moses is growing up, he finds out that he is actually adopted from a Jewish family. The Jewish community at this time is trapped in slavery. He goes on a challenge to free the Jewish slaves.
This is a story I know really well having grown up in Church and heard about the story of Moses so many times. I really enjoy this film, it is a lot of fun to watch and I've watched it so many times, especially the opening. I think you should definitely watch it, even if you do not believe in the story. We watched it at a girly sleepover evening we had at mine, as we missed the traditional sleepovers we used to have when we were 13.

He's just not that into you. 2009. 12. Amazon Prime Video.
He's just not that into you is one of those films which has many storylines running at the same time which intertwines as the film goes one. Each storyline is about a relationship breaking down and the woman eventually realising that 'He's just not that into you'.
This is the first time I had watched this film, but I have heard about this film before. I really enjoyed the film and watched it on the train on the way to uni one time. The actor who plays Kripky in the big bang theory is this film, and it was so weird to hear his voice without a lisp! In my head, the actor was not putting this on.

Swallows and Amazons. 2016. PG. Amazon Prime Video.
Four siblings go on holiday with their mum and see an Island that they want to sail to. They manage to convince their mum, pack everything they need, borrow a boat and go on their adventure.
I really wanted to see this film for several reasons. The first one was that I loved both the original film and book when I was younger. The second reason is that my Dad was asked to teach the actors who play the older two kids how to sail (he couldn't cause he was busy with work at the time) #sadface. When I was younger I wanted to go off and go on a sailing adventure like the kids in the book, but my parents wouldn't let me cause I was too young, I don't think I quite understood that 8-year-old cant sail around the world by themselves.
