Anti bullying roadshow
Whilst in Norwich, I have been involved in the anti bullying roadshow. ABR is an interactive session which takes place in different schools across Norwich to educate the students about what bullying is and how it can affect different people. Part of the session is a drama about bullying set in a school, so that the students may be able to relate to some of the characters. The students also have a chance to interview the characters, and take their place in the drama, if they feel like the character should have acted in a different way in the situation.
In preparation for the drama, we had lots of rehearsals in the weeks leading towards the first roadshow. In the drama I played Jo, who was one of the main characters and the bully's friend. I sometimes found playing this character quite hard because I don't usually take part in dramas, and there were a lot of lines to learn. However, I did find it a lot of fun.
Earlier this week we had the first roadshow in a local school with the year 8 students. This was all morning and the students really enjoyed it. The drama went well, even though most of us forgot at least one line at one point, we managed to improvise our way out of it!
We have two more bookings for ABR in the new year, one with the school we were at earlier this week, but with a different year group.
Prayer points:
The group on Monday think about what we said and take it on board
We have the opportunity to go into more schools
