Good Friday encounter
On good Friday we had encounter, which is the big worship event that is held once a term. Because it was good Friday we had an Easter theme to the whole evening. With 120 people there, we had a great night of worship and learning more about the Easter story.
Near the beginning of the evening, we had an activity called 'go hard or go home' where we had two young people volunteer to do a challenge, which was to eat chocolate Easter eggs with different baby food fillings in and they had to guess what the flavour of the baby food was. This was so funny to watch.
We also had a Mission Academy feedback session where we had some of the young people being asked questions about how their projects went to feedback to everyone else. It was great to get to hear the story's of different missions. I was also interviewed to show the perspective of a youth worker helping the young people do these projects.
The worship was done by the YFC band storehouse, who did the worship at our last encounter. As well as doing the usual songs, they taught the young people a new song. They were also recording their songs throughout the night.
Instead of having the traditional talk at the end of the evening, we had something a little different. We set up the first four Easter uncovered stations in the sports hall for people to go and look around. This was a great way to show the Easter story by letting people experience it for themselves. We then had a short talk at the end to explain the last two stations, the cross and the empty tomb.
