Books!
Ever since I was young I loved reading books. I've read quite a few different books recently, all from different genres.
Books I have read recently:
I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
This book is a biography of Malala Yousafzai, the girl shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan. I loved this book because it was great to see her bravery through everything that happened, and to know the full story of what happened.
Pay it forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde
This is a fiction about a boy called Trevor who was asked as a school assignment to come up with an idea that will change to world for good. The story then follows his life as he goes through with his plan, to do a good deed for three people, and instead of them paying you back, they do a good good deed for three more people, and it shows how people are impacted by the dream of one little boy.
Cabinet of mathematical curiosities by Ian Stewart
My love of this book shows how much of a maths nerd I am! This book looks at different interesting mathematical problems, such as how to slice through your fingers without cutting them off, and the geometry of nature.
The shack by Wm Paul Young
This shack is a Christian novel about a man, called Mack, who is able to physically see God, and how God is not at all how Mack expected him to look. This book questions our view of God, whilst having a really interesting story.
Books I am currently reading:
The age of miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
I have already read this book but I loved it so much that I have decided to read it again. Its a fiction which looks at what would happen if the earth starts to spin slower, therefore making the days longer, but from the interesting perspective of an 11 year old girl called Julia.
Bible in a year
In September I decided to give myself the challenge of reading the bible in a year. It's not going as well as I hopped, with me being really busy, and simply forgetting, I am now really behind. I am so determined though to do this that I am trying to catch up. On the bible app they can read the bible out, so I have been doing that in the evenings recently. I have been following the soul survivor bible plan with a couple of other friends.
Books I really want to read:
Jesus greater than religion by Jefferson Bethke
Jefferson Bethke is such an inspirational speaker and I love his YouTube video about by the same name. The topic of religion not being important when being a Christian is such a controversial topic in church's, but I agree with what Jefferson says in his video, and I am really interested to see what he says in his book.
The great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Due to this being such a classic, I really want to read it to get more into reading classics. I've not really read many classics, but this one is so short that I feel like it is a great place to start.
Him and me by Jack Whitehall
Jack Whitehall is such a funny comedian that I feel like his book will just be hilarious. I've read other comedy books by comedians and so I'm really looking forward who reading this one.
Have you read any books recently that you think are really good that others should read? Comment below!
