Zip Now: Zip wire in London
Back in June I saw an advert for ‘zip now’. Zip now is a zip wire in central London near the London eye. After looking at the website, it seemed like such an amazing idea and affordable, so I planned to go with a friend, Karen.
On the day we went to waterloo station and walked from there. Once we got to the sign in tents, we watched a safety video, put our stuff in a locker and went through to put the harnesses on.
One part of this I didn’t think of was climbing up the tower to the start of the zip wire. 183 steps later I was not sure if my legs were still working. At the top we waited for our turn, there were a few people in front of us. As we were waiting, the staff were asked to stop doing the zip wire as there was a drone flying near the wires. However, once we were at the front of the line, we were connected to the wire. At the count of three, both me and Karen stepped on the ledge and started flying! It was amazing. We hit 50 mph and the zip wire lasted about 30 seconds.
Once we got to the end, we then had the ‘mega drop’. This was a 10m jump where we were free falling before the rope caused us to slow down before we were supposed to land on our feet. Karen went first. When it came to me going I was a bit freaked out as it was very different to the zip wire. In the zip wire you could feel the harness pulling you up from the beginning, but not with the mega drop. After a lot of encouragement, I jumped, and ended up landing more on my back. Oh well!
I am so happy that I did this, and it was defiantly worth it. I’m not sure that I would do the mega drop again, but I would go the zip wire again!
Bye guys! Speak to you all soon.
