Audible: Animal: The Autobiography of the Female Body
(Confession: I wrote this, and many other blog posts, over the summer, and then forgot to post them. Sorry!! But I guess, better late than never.)
I’m gonna be honest from the start when buying this audiobook I was expecting a sweet autobiography about Sara Pascoe and how she became a comedian. This is not at all what I got, and I assume its all my fault as I didn’t read the blurb. However, this does not mean that I did not like the book.
Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body by Sara Pascoe is primarily a book about female sexuality and the female body.
Sara aims to answer questions such as, are humans made to be monogamous by using her own anecdotes, comedy and sensitivity. She is even able to use science in a clear and understandable way for those, like me, who have next to none scientific knowledge.
My favourite part of the book is Sara looking at self-esteem. It is so inspirational, and I think Sara should do more to explore this topic, as I think she would be so talented at sharing this with young women.
Sara Pascoe is a fantastic comedian, and this book shows just how intelligent she is. She is able to take the science and explain it in such a great way while encouraging conversations about issues which as usually ignored.
I would recommend this book to all women. Sara Pascoe comes to this topic from a non-Christian viewpoint, so many may disagree with specific points, but the book overall is fantastic.
Bye guys! Speak to you all soon.
