Warsaw: Day One
My trip to Warsaw was my first SRPRS ME and I was so excited. (If you don't know what an SRPRS ME trip is, go to sprps.me). I went with three friends, Vicky, Maddie and Kerry.
Flight
This was definitely the most stressful lead up to a flight I have ever had. We had a super early flight so Vic and Maddie stayed with me at my mums the night before. As Vic got off her coach, she realised her bag wasn't there, and someone had accidently walked off with her suitcase. Her bag had everything in it, including her passport. 6am the next morning, 30 minutes before we had to be at the airport, we finally got in touch with the woman who had taken the bag. We got the suitcase in a taxi and to the airport just in time for Vicky to get on the flight. I honestly don’t know how it happened, utter miracle!!!
Before we left, i had managed to connect with a woman who was going on a SRPRS ME trip the same time as us with her daughter, and after comparing our weather reports, realised we were going to the same place. Once we were in Warsaw we were able to find each other, and share an uber to the city centre. They were both so lovely, and this was one of the things that I love about this holiday, you get to connect with others who are just amazing.
Hostel
When we arrived in Warsaw, we took an uber to our hostel. We stayed at the ‘Patchwork’ hostel which was near to the city centre and close to the bars and other hostels in Warsaw. The hostel had a great colourful patchwork theme with everything from the doors to the lockers being a mix of bright colours. There were 3 floors of room, mainly dorms, one floor of the reception and common room, and the basement with the bar. Let’s face it, we spent a lot of time in the bar as the drinks were so cheap and it was a great place to meet others.
Lunch
Once we were settled into our room we went out to find some food. We found a lovely little pizza place only a couple of minutes away from the hostel. This was the first time we realised how cheap a lot of places in Poland are. This is also the first time we realised that we will have to do a lot of pointing to order food.
Games/ Dinner
We are all so exhausted by this point that we all wanted to sleep by 6pm. Instead we managed to drag ourselves out of the dorm and into the bar. It was still early so quite empty, so after our drinks we went up to the common room to play board games; Dixit is still one of my favourite board games. We then got chips before dragging ourselves into bed at 9pm (only 8 UK time). This was a great rollercoaster of a day so I definitely needed lots of sleep before day 2.
Bye guys! Speak to you all soon.
