Warsaw: Day Three
Breakfast
We decided not to go back to to the local hotel but instead pop into the donut shop on the way to the park. Oh my word, it was the best donut I have ever had! It was only 3.70 zln (around 80p) and I wish I could have them delivered to my house back in Norwich every day!
Palace- Lavinski park
This day we spent most of the time at Lavinski Park, which was about 30 minutes walk away from the hostel. Lavinski Park has an old palace with a couple of other building which you are able to explore and look around. On Thursdays it is free to get into all the buildings, but you still need a ticket (a mistake we made); however, you need to buy a separate ticket for each building which costs money on any other day, so I would recommend going on Thursdays if possible. The park was so lovely with loads of wildlife (red squirrels, peacocks, fancy ducks etc.) and greenery. We went into two of the buildings. The first was the palace which was super fancy with loads of great paintings etc. The other was the orangery with sooooooo many human sculptures of famous people. They had paper and pencils for people to try and sketch one of the sculptures, and I can confirm that I suck at drawing!
Lunch
All the places in the park were crazy expensive so we went out and explored the surrounding area. Yet again, the struggle between wanting to eat Polish food and wanting good quickly, so we ended up in Pizza Hut! We got soup, pizza and a drink for only 18 zln (around £4) and it was amazing!!!
Calm afternoon
Once we got back to the park, the buildings were closed so we chilled out for a bit before heading home. By this point I was struggling to do the whole walking thing so it took us way too long. We went back to the hostel, collapsed and I had a nap before dinner.
Dinner
It may have taken us till the 3rd day, but we got some Polish food! When we were on the tour, we asked the tour guide where he recommended traditional Polish food and he suggested a Polish food chain called Zapiecek. There was one around the corner from the hostel so we went there. Oh my gosh the food is amazing! The servings were so good that we got 3 to share between the 4 of us, two different types of dumplings and one potato pancake. They were so good. We also got drinks, the others got an elixa thing but I got a mulled wine. It was amazing and had a little candle underneath to keep in warm (see the photo). I am definitely going to start a petition for them to open this chain in England, preferably Norwich.
Bar
We went down to the bar for our final night and it was salsa night! There were salsa classes, which of course I joined in with, before getting a couple of drinks, joining in with a couple of games, and yet again, chatting to crazy nice people before having an early night due to the flight the next day. It was about this point I realised how crazy it was that all the locals spoke fluent English, yet I can only speak one language. After talking to them about this, many of them could speak 4 or 5 languages fluently and found it strange that many people from English don't do that. After this I have become determined to learn a foreign language, I sucked at this at school but we will see how it goes! This day was a more relaxed day but I still got to see loads of new things and have lots of amazing food.
Bye guys! Speak to you all soon.
