Audible: In the days of rain

(Confession: I wrote this, and many other blog posts, over the summer, and then forgot to post them. Sorry!! But I guess, better late than never.)

In the Days of Rain by Rebecca Stott is a heart-breaking account of Rebecca growing up in a cult and the lasting impacts on her life.

I hadn’t heard of this book before it was recommended to me, but I was intrigued after reading the blurb. Growing up as a Christian and being an active Christian now, I wanted to hear people’s experiences of growing up in Churches what were manipulative and could be considered as cults, as this is so different to my experience.

Rebecca Stott shares her, and her late fathers experience being part of an extreme controlling denomination of church before they left when Rebecca was still a child. She talks about how it massively impacted her life and her way of thinking, even for a long time after her and her family left the church.

This book was an eye-opener for me, as it was a clear example of people using their ‘faith’ and ‘the word of God’ for wrong. It has made me see why some people are so against Christianity due to their experiences.

I would recommend this book, whether or not you have a ‘faith’ in God. It is quite a hard book to listen to as it is intense but I would say that it is worth it.

Bye guys! Speak to you all soon.
